What is a Printable?

Yesterday I mentioned that I am planing to do various options of how to use my art prints and one of them is to get them as printables. So I just wanted to quickly overview what’s a printable, because I think people don’t always know the full potential of it.

Printable art is an art piece that you can download directly to your computer. If you bought it from the artist, it will always be good quality and often will come in a few different sizes.

If you buy your printables in those big art market websites such as Society 6 or Fine Art America they usually sell one size at a time. They are working with thousands of artists around the world, so if you, for example, need a little customization for your printable size it will not be an easy task. Buying directly from the artist you can usually get the better price too, as there is no third parties who share the profit.

So, after you download your printable, you can print it at home if you have a good printer or you can bring the USB with it to your local printer and have a piece of art that you love to decorate your home or office in no time.

The cool thing about printable is that you pay for it once and then can print it as many times as you want, as long as it’s for personal use only. Also you can play around with the materials for your art. You can choose paper of different textures and colors, you can print on canvas or any other thing that your local printer can work with (wood for instance). If your friends can’t take their eyes of your print, you can print one for them and give as gift. Creative gifts always gets people’s attention.

So, in my opinion, to get a printable is a very affordable and great way to buy art that you like.
