Travel photography — 5 tips for better photos
We all take photos while traveling.
Some take professional cameras with a variety of lenses and other equipment.
These people hardly need any advice, they know better (and way more than me) for themselves.
The others take photos with their phones or little digital cameras that are very easy to carry.
Nowadays phones have such good cameras that if you don‘t have a photographer‘s ambition for stunning — contest quality photos — the phone camera can really be enough.
There are few little things to keep in mind to make your travel photos even better.
- Be aware of the background when taking photos of people. Better to wait a few seconds for that big truck or bus to go by than have it in your photo instead of the beautiful scenery you‘re aiming for.
- Try to make a horizon line as horizontal as possible (especially if you‘re making seascapes or rather flat landscapes), unless you‘re trying to compose the view differently on purpose.
- Try to fit people into the picture without cutting their legs or hands if you‘re aiming for a full figure.
- Take notice of what looks more interesting — the upper part of the view (maybe with the interesting shape clouds or panorama) or the lower part (maybe some beautiful plants are trying to get into your picture) and make it bigger than the other part. Dividing the view into equal size segments always look rather boring.
- Look for unexpected angles, don‘t be afraid to bend or even lye on the ground, it will make your photos so much more interesting to look at.
