How to print your printable art
A printable digital art file is the art that you can use to decorate a space of your choice in just minutes! It‘s an extremely fast way to transform a dull space into something beautiful or get your home an unexpected makeover just before the party.
What do you do when you receive an email with your printable digital art file?
- DOWNLOAD the file to your computer. Do not use your phone or tablet for this as they often compress the file which will compromise the quality of the image.
- SAVE it to your computer in a separate folder. There usually is more than one file and randomly spreading them on your desktop will cause you unnecessary search for the particular one later.
- CHOOSE the size that you want to print. Sizes are written in your file names. Make sure that you measure the exact space for the chosen size before printing.
- PRINT the file.
Now here you have two options.
- If you have a really good printer at home you can definitely print all your downloads on your own. It‘s way cheaper and faster.
- Or you can save yourself the trouble put it on the USB and bring it to the local printer.
If you decide to print at home there are few things to double-check.
- Are all your printer‘s cartridges full and installed properly?
- Do you have a desirable type of paper ready?
- Is your printer set on 100% size mode (not fit to page)?
Also, double-check if your home printer can print bigger sizes than A4. There are many printers that can print A3 also, you just have to adjust the settings for that.
How to choose the paper for home printing?
There are lots of brands that offer high-quality photo paper. I would recommend choosing matte photo paper as glossy one would give you a bit of a shine which can look cheap on black and white graphic art. Also, I would print on the thickest paper your printer can take safely, that way you will avoid curly corners.
If you decide to take your digital download to your local printer, you can just tell them what do you want and choose from all the papers (you can find slightly toned ones that will look great) and materials (such as canvas) that they have to offer.
If you are printing the invitations keep in mind that you will have to cut them out of the paper using crop signs. Also, I recommend using thicker matte photo paper.
