Declutter your home

Decluttering can be intimidating and we tend to postpone this activity forever.

You know you have to do it sometime, but you just can‘t bring yourself to begin as it seems like a very exciting and time-consuming task.

It doesn‘t have to be that way.

I found that one of the easiest ways to declutter your home from the unused or outdated stuff is going very slowly about it — one step at a time.

Don‘t even try to think like „OK. Now I‘m gonna declutter my entire home. Where do I start?“ This is the surest way to end up browsing FB for two hours and then going to the fridge for tuna sandwiches instead (not that it ever happened to anyone here).

Better make yourself a commitment to declutter first the smallest spaces you can think of — like a cosmetic box, or gloves drawer.

When you do that — commit to decluttering something bigger — like one kitchen cabinet.

That way you will immediately have a feeling of accomplishment (which is very satisfying) and would not be so reluctant to go on.

After every task reward yourself with a little treat, like M&M candy or something of the sort (don‘t go running to the fridge, because it will go out of hand pretty soon, but just something very little).

That way you‘ll declutter slowly but surely and it‘s way better than postpone it for an indefinite time.
